Disclaimer: I only dream that I own them.
A/N: Here's the ficlet that killed my spark. I posted this on the H/C list eons ago, so chances are you've read it. Just posting it here for archival purposes.
He walks along the water's edge, during that little window of time between day and night.
She watches him silently. His sunglasses hang around his neck.
He examines the horizon as she approaches.
"That took you long enough," he says without turning.
"I was watching you," she says.
"You do that often?"
She blushes. "You were unguarded. I couldn't resist."
"Hmm," he growls. "C'mere now, please."
"Okay."
She breathes in; he kisses her.
"Mm," she hums into his mouth, deepening their kiss and fanning their fire.
His cell phone aims to extinguish it.
One look at his form as he checks the ID, and she accepts that the cell phone has succeeded.
"It's Frank," he says.
She exhales deeply.
Stealing moments has become their game. Their professional lives depend upon it.
He whispers, "I love you" into her ear, and says, "I'm sorry" as he kisses her cheek.
Neither would change a moment, yet both would move earth for a change.
"Goodnight," he says as he releases her fully.
She watches him once more as he walks away and returns to the world where *they* don't exist.
"Goodnight," she sighs long after he's gone.
And their little window in time closes for the evening.
Old Author's Notes:
A/N: My beta's out of town for the weekend. All mistakes are mine.
A/N2: Inspiration for this hit on my way home from classes yesterday when I realized I was happy to be out of school but unhappy to be returning to the stresses of home. There was this small little period of time in between, barely 2 minutes, in which the radio was on, I had no responsibilities, and life was pure sunshine.
Also, I've never written a fic in this style (or this short) for any fandom so reviews would be helpful.

P.S. IMHO, short fanfic is an art!
